I am not going to let the fact that it’s a new year guide me to lose weight.
I’m really happy for people who find that as a motivation but, to me, it’s frustrating.
Why?
Because New Years resolutions are bound to fail (in most cases but hey, you could be the exception). You’ve seen the New Years’ rush at the gym and know that it dies out after about two weeks. A resolution, in it’s definition is A firm decision to do or not to do something. Why does it have to rely on the New Year to change? What, just for 2012 I’m not going to do something? I would rather just make a life resolution to be healthy, happy and fit. I made that resolution before the new year. I don’t need a new year to motivate me and if you’re on here, neither do you. If you started to rely on the fitblr community to help you with your weightloss then, you’ve already made a resolution, so why do you need to further it by relying on a year?

Day One: Do this
Day two: Do this
blah blah blah.
Probably with working out 3 times a week.
I haven’t really been sticking to one and I figure if I have something to keep me on a schedule, then I will stick to it.
Any suggestions?
My problem is that when I try to change my lifestyle, I get so afraid that people might judge me and think:
“Oh, fat girl on a diet. Let’s see how long it last.”
“Isn’t that sweet? She’s trying to lose weight, bless her heart”
And then when I fail, they’ll all think they’re mean, condescending thoughts about how they knew I couldn’t do it. So, before I fail, I don’t let myself start. It’s much easier at home to start and continue because I can control my food but at school I feel like everyone is watching and judging my choices, so I make unhealthy ones.
This time, I refuse. I will let everyone judge me at the beginning but then they will see how much ass I am kicking and I will change their minds.
I am the only one who can, so I will.
